I used to always move my furniture around, In fact when my daughters were growing up, and I called my oldest she would say, ”it’s Sunday afternoon. Mom’s going to move furniture!” With my smaller house it is harder to move everything.
A few weeks ago I got it in my head that I was sick of my bedroom furniture. Once it’s in my head it doesn’t go away.
I acquired my bed and dresser from the clean-out of my uncle’s house – 16 years ago. How could it be so long?? A beautiful burled walnut headboard & foot board, early 20th century in the Empire style and a marble topped dresser. A wonderful antique find. I have used it and I have loved it. But the time had come for lighter and whiter. As I have learned from my downsizing clients and auction experts, this type of antique furniture really doesn’t have much value in today’s market. Since I knew that, I wasn’t expecting much but I knew before I could buy something new I had to get this out. My great clean-out guy said he would take it to auction for me. That was solved.
So happens I was trolling Ebay and came across a white iron bed with just the right amount of swirly detail. Only 20-30 years old but… As it turns out the bed was in Reedsville PA – in the middle of the state about 3 hours from Philadelphia. What could I do now that I wanted it? Never doubt that old friends are the best. This is who I called. A friend who has a farm in western PA and goes there often. And he goes through Reedsville. And he has a pick-up truck. It was meant to be!
I put it together, put on my Bella Notte linens and slept in it last night. I moved a lovely white dresser from another room and now Spring has Sprung at my Cottage.
Some wonderful outdoor markets coming soon.
What will I move next?
