‘Does everyone know I’m a coffee fanatic? But coffee might not be good for me. To that I say, it’s my only vice I have left.
It’s summer so my drink of choice is iced coffee. My favorite beans are from Rival Brothers http://www.rivalbros.com in Philadelphia. They roast their beans locally and in small batches. The guys at Rivals told me how they make their cold brew so that’s how I do it. Grind the beans coarse, mix them with the right amount of water in a glass bowl and let it sit overnight or 12 hours. Then strain and there it is. Make it strong- the ice dilutes.
Well last year when William Sonoma went out of business in Ardmore, I bought a Hario Cold Water Coffee Dripper. A beautiful contraption ( always important) that makes a mellow strong concentrate cold coffee. I must admit I was intrigued when I saw it. And it just looks summery in my kitchen!
A few years ago I took my family to Duck, NC. I found the closest coffee shop and had my cup there every morning. The Treehouse Coffee Co. https://www.facebook.com/treehousecoffees/
It was the first time I had ever seen a cold brew water drip coffee maker and it was big!! 22 hours for that great cold brew!
Kinda a long ride for a cold brew so I’ll experiment with mine.
You can find me on my front porch with my cottage coffee.
